Meet the team behind BPC

  • Johan du Randt

Johan attended college at Port Elizabeth Technikon, South Africa where he played number one singles and doubles tennis. He played on the tour for five years and achieved a singles ATP ranking of 331 and doubles ATP ranking of 222. Johan is a six-time APTA National Paddle Tennis Champion and will be inducted into the APTA (Platform Tennis) Hall of Fame this coming March.

A long time teacher of racquet sports, he was formerly the Head Professional at The Country Club in Brookline, MA. Recognizing that pickleball is the future of racquet sports, Johan has worked tirelessly to build the Boston Pickle Club with a passion to bring the joy and health benefits of racquets sports to as many people as possible. Johan lives in Wayland, MA with his wife and two children.

  • Stephen Mitchell

Raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Stephen competed in the Australian, Wimbledon, and U.S. Open Junior Grand Slams before going on to play Division 1 tennis at the University of Alabama where he captained the tennis team during his senior year. He went on to play on the ATP tour and was a member of the South African Davis Cup team. Together he and Johan have won three platform tennis National Championships as well as many other titles.

Stephen has been a racquets professional for 18 years, most recently the Director of Racquets at The Braeburn Country Club in Newton. He shares Johan’s passion for racquet sports and will be running our first facility, 91 Sprague Street in Hyde Park. When he’s not giving his all to BPC, you might spot him and his wife cheering on one of their three kids at a soccer field, tennis court, or ice rink nearby.

  • Steve Hauck

Raised outside of Boston, Steve Hauck grew up playing tennis, paddle and squash. The worst racquet player in three generations of Haucks, Steve is hoping to finally make his family proud with Pickleball.

As an entrepreneur, he is passionate about building great businesses and having fun along the way. Taking care of the corporate side of Boston Pickle, the three way partnership with Johan and Stephen makes the vision of the Boston Pickle Club unstoppable. Steve lives in Dover with his wife and three daughters - all emerging pickleball enthusiasts.
